Meet Kayla Irizarry, Illustrator
Kayla Irizarry is the talented illustrator behind Chelsea Discovers Chemistry. Below, Kayla shares her connection with Chelsea and why she's excited to be part of the STEM Girls Books team.
“When I first read the draft of Chelsea Discovers Chemistry, I immediately became excited. Chelsea is curious and loves to experiment in the kitchen, and with her mother's makeup. I used to love to do those same things as a child. As I'm developing the character of Chelsea, I draw on those childhood memories of what it was like to bake cookies, play dress up and sneak into my mother's makeup!
What I love about the STEM Girls Books series is that it taps into the unique, wonderful purpose and calling for our lives. I believe that God created something special for each one of us and my hope is that Chelsea's story, along with the others, will help spark inspiration and direction for each reader."
Kayla is a transplanted Texan who now lives in Florida. She is a student at the Ringling College of Art and Design, majoring in illustration. You can view her portfolio on Behance or follow her on Instagram. We are grateful to have Kayla aboard the STEM Girls Books team and know you will love Chelsea's explorations in science as much as we do!
